I believe that I am suffering from a mild case of the Wedding Blues. Since my wedding in September has come and gone I have missed all the researching, planning and crafting. I still continue to look at wedding magazines and websites and often give ideas to newly engaged friends. All I think about is breaking into the wedding business, and I am not very picky about what part. I love the photography aspect, but also love planning - and, of course I love bridal fashion. I know I've thrown the "L" word around a lot, but I truly am enthralled with the business. But how does an individual get started in a business that they have no formal training or experience in?
Recently, I have browsed several sites looking for career opportunities working for wedding magazine companies - how naive of me not to realize that most are located in NYC and CA. Yes, there are smaller, local magazine companies, however, they do not advertise for career opportunities or even internships. Is a foot in the door too much to ask for?
I am going to continue to put my feelers out there and maybe I should just start making contact with locals in the business. All they can say is no, and it wouldn't be the first time I've heard that word before. If you are reading this and have any ideas, suggestions, etc feel free to leave me a comment.
Thanks for listening to me rant!
